I just want to introduce myself, explain the purpose of this new website and give you a peek into this mind of mine.

I have always enjoyed taking pictures. I started out with a polaroid camera in my younger days, took a college photography course where I developed my own pictures, and now I use my Canon R5. I love the idea of capturing a moment in time. Growing up I was always outdoors and hated being inside. I would be climbing trees and flipping rocks to see what was under there. My tree climbing days are over but I'm still flipping rocks and logs to see what I can find. I always feel most at peace lost in a field. I always say "Finding myself by getting lost".

In August of 2019, a friend of mine was posting pictures of butterflies on her Facebook, and I reached out and asked if I could come along sometime. We made plans to meet up and 5 minutes into our day I was hooked. I quickly became obsessed with photographing birds, animals and the insects I came across. Below is the picture that started it all. It reintroduced me to the passion for photography and the need to always be out wandering. It started the desire to see "all the things".

Over the years I have switched fixations. Birds, animals, trees, leaves, flowers, mushrooms, especially insects and most recently textures and designs in everyday objects. A few years ago, I added a macro lens to my life, and it quickly became my favorite toy. The ability to get close to insects and study them is a passion of mine. I love the idea of keeping track of things I'm able to photograph and hope to one day have pictures of all of the insects and spiders in the Hudson Valley. A coffee table book is a long-term goal for me. Even if it just sits on my coffee table, lol.

In the Summer of 2017 Melisa asked If I wanted to travel to Virginia/Tennessee with our two youngest for a vacation. I had never traveled with just one of the kids and for sure not without Rob. We were driving there, and I was not exactly comfortable driving, we totally did it. I was shocked that I was able to drive. We had a great time and visited my first National Park. The Great Smokey mountains were incredible and so began my plan to see all of the National Parks as a bucket list item. We have visited many parks together each summer and I'm checking them off one at a time. After that trip, I was hooked on traveling. I am grateful for the ability to see something new. It continues to bring tears to my eyes. I am in constant awe of the beauty in this world. I want to see as much of it as I can. Each year since then, I have traveled to different states. I would grab Maddy, my youngest and go.

In May of 2019, I made my first solo trip to Acadia National Park in Maine. I was there for 5 days and saw some incredible things. Since that May, I have traveled to many different states. This past February I joined my first Photography based tour to the beautiful country of Colombia. I joined many other talented photographers and saw some of the most exotic species of birds imaginable. In addition, the coolest insects and great company and I knew it would not be my last tour.

I have a few trips planned for next year. I am heading to Guatemala to photograph primates, as well as a summer trip to Alaska to be with the fishing bears of Katmai National Park. In 2025, a dream trip to the Galapagos Islands is in the works. My dream list is long and wide, but I am passionate and determined.

Over the next few weeks, I hope to add a blog post for every past trip I have taken. My memory is not what it used to be and being able to have this as an online diary and space to share my passion with other people is my goal. I hope that you enjoyed this post and stick around to follow me on my journeys. As always, prints are available of my work, and I always appreciate the love and support I am given. I'm grateful for this life every day.
